Sherilyn is a registered psychologist who has completed her Bachelors with Honours in Psychological Science as well as their Masters of Clinical Psychology at Griffith University, Gold Coast. She uses individualized, trauma-aware, and person-centered treatment, tailored to each client and their goals.
In particular, Sherilyn has experience with and a particular focus on supporting older adolescents, young adults, and people who identify as LGBQTIA+.
Sherilyn views each client as a whole, and considers their individual identity, mental health concerns, and upbringing to inform treatment. She focuses on helping individuals recognise emotional and behavioural patterns in themselves, such as anxiety, depression, self-critical thoughts, and trauma responses. This supports clients to disrupt these patterns and achieve a kinder and healthier view of themselves.
Sherilyn draws on multiple frameworks, with influences from Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP), Schema Therapy, Interpersonal Psychotherapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, and Attachment Theory. As a Queer person herself, she is passionate about supporting the LGBTQIA+ community, including creating resources to educate loved ones and professionals alike.
